Ikeja council ex-chairman,Toyin Hamzat, Shot Dead

WIDESPREAD condemnation Monday trailed the killing at the weekend of Dr. Toyin Hamzat, a former Chairman of Ikeja Local Council. He was also a former aide to Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola and before that, of his predecessor, Bola Tinubu.

He was reportedly shot in the head at Sabo, Sagamu, Ogun State, at about 9.00 p.m. on Sunday after leaving Sagamu Town Club where he had gone for a meeting and was heading for his country home in Ijebu-Aiyepe, Odogbolu Local Council.

The killers, it was learnt, blocked his car with an Ogun painted taxi, emerged, shot him point blank and reportedly left the scene without taking his car.
Fashola who was at Ijebu-Aiyepe Monday to condole with Hamzat’s family, described his death as a personal loss to him, Lagos State and the entire Southwest family of the Action Congress of Nigeria.

Tinubu described Hamzat as an illustrious and a progressively minded politician.
