Vindalee Smith, 38, was found in her apartment in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn on Saturday morning.
Neighbors say she was a member of the nearby New Dimension Seventh Day Adventist church.
The New York Post reported on the tragic story of Smith's murder.
She was found dead in her home with stab wounds to her neck, sources told the newspaper.
The grim discovery was made about 9.30am.
Smith's friends told police she was eight months pregnant.
They also revealed that she was supposed to get married on Sunday.
Her friends had planned a baby shower for Saturday night.
Police have no named any suspects.
