I Thought You Knew

That Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez are brothers.

Nicolas Cage, born Nicolas Kim Coppola, was born on January 7, 1964 to parents August and Joy. He comes from a family of celebrities including his composer grandfather Carmine Coppola, his actress grandmother Italia Pennino and his director uncle Francis Ford Coppola, while his two brothers are Christopher Coppola, a director, and Marc 'The Cope' Coppola, a New York radio personality.

2. He changed his name from Coppola to Cage in the early stages of his career to avoid association with his already famous uncle. The name Cage was inspired by the comic book character Luke Cage.

3. Cage became the youngest ever winner of the Academy Award for 'Best Actor' for his role in Leaving Las Vegas, in which he played a suicidal alcoholic. He was again nominated for his role in Adaptation.

4. He has been married three times - First to actress Patricia Arquette, the sister of David Arquette, then to the daughter of Elvis Presley, Lisa Marie, and finally to former waitress Alice Kim, who he has been married to since 2004. They have a son together called Kal-El, named after Superman’s birth name. Cage also has a son called Weston Coppola Cage from a previous relationship.

5. Cage has been lucky enough to star alongside some of Hollywood’s most beautiful of actresses, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Penelope Cruz and Angelina Jolie.

6. He is a huge fan of comic books and even has his own title that he writes with son Weston called Voodoo Child, which is published by Virgin Comics. He once auctioned a collection of more than 400 vintage comics for over $1.6 million!

7. Nicolas has a passion for real estate but perhaps his weirdest property purchase is a fake castle in Los Angeles! He also once owned a real castle in Germany called the Schloss Neidstein that boasts 28 rooms including 10 bedrooms and cost Cage over €2 million!

8. Despite being one of Hollywood’s highest-earning actors, Nicolas is certainly not selfish with his money - he once donated over $2 million to establish a fund for former child soldiers.

9. He suffers from severe vertigo.

10. Nicolas broke the auction record for Lamborghinis when he placed a bid for $500,000!
