Manchester United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson, will be hoping to have two
of his new signings, Robin van Persie and Shinji Kagawa, available for
action as soon as possible.
The Dutch striker, picked up a suspected thigh injury, while on
international duty against Hungary and was replaced by Klaas-Jan
Huntelaar for the start of the second half.
“We took off Robin for precautionary measures. It doesn’t seem to be
too serious, but you never know. We didn’t want to take any risks,” the
national team coach, Luis Van Gaal told SBS6.
Kagawa was also substituted at half time, in Japan’s game against the
United Arab Emirates (UAE), having missed the match against Iraq last
week.
“He felt uncomfortable in his lower back in practice yesterday, and
we decided to wait a night and see how it looked, but he’s not at 100
per cent so we’re leaving him off. He didn’t go to the hospital,” A
Japan Football Association official told Daily Sports.
The player himself, also tried to play down fears that he would be out for a longer time.
“It [the injury] happened in yesterday’s practice,” he told Nikkan
Sports. “I was holding the ball and went to make a move and in that
instant it started to hurt. I won’t take long [to recover].”
