Flood ravages Edo state, displacing half a million people

Thousands of residents in Edo state, have also been displaced following the rising tides of the River Niger. The affected local governments are Etsako central, Etsako east and Esan south east local government areas of the state.


The disaster which was caused by the overflow of River Niger has led to a huge loss of property.

The ravaging flood which also affected has taken over 20 communities in the area with a population of over 500,000 people destroyed buildings, food crops and farmlands.
 
Thousands of displaced persons are currently taken refuge in some state owned primary and secondary schools not affected by the flood.

The overflow of River Niger has caused massive flooding in Koji, Edo, Niger and Anambra states, displacing over a million people, destroying properties worth millions of Naira including highway road and bridges, as a number of lives are reported lost.
