Disaster Looms as Huricane Sandy Moves Closer to NYC
The streets of New York City were deserted this morning after 375,000 people were evacuated from their homes, subways stopped and shops and businesses closed in preparation for what is thought to be one of the worst storms in history.
An 11-foot wall of water is expected to pummel the east coast after 4pm today and residents are bracing themselves for winds of up to 85mph.
City schools have been shut down, thousands of police officers are patrolling city streets and the national guard has been mobilized for any impending mayhem. Wow....hope it won't be as ugly as it sounds. More photos after the cut
Eerie: A strange stillness came over Grand Central on 42nd Street, usually one of the busiest junctions in New York City.
